The Chirag Foundation moves resources to community-led organizations striving to achieve racial and wealth equity through advocacy, economic development, and direct-service programs.

Incorporated in 1999, The Chirag Foundation seeks to support individuals, communities and institutions through monetary resources, targeted investments and thought partnership to make meaningful change in today’s society. Since inception, the Foundation has provided organizations with over $5 million in grants.

The Chirag Foundation has worked with a range of partners varying in focus area, size and service location. Education is the core strategic theme of the Foundation and the common thread among these organizations. Our 2023 partners are located in the U.S. and India and include:

The Foundation is drawn to grant partners that are demographically reflective of the populations they serve, collaborative, and eager to create systemic change. We recognize that each community has its own strengths and needs, and program success or impact must be defined and measured with that in consideration. We hope to partner with institutions and organizations that are embedded within the communities they serve and understand local perspectives of what constitutes meaningful and sustainable change. The Foundation is interested in supporting organizations that are self-reflective and committed to continuous improvement.
